Claire

July 27th, 2010 by infocus

This was the first shoot in the new studio that required more complex lighting. Claire’s make-up was done by the wonderful Jamie. I can only recommend Jamie, she’s very professional and her work speaks for herself. Working with Claire was very nice and easy as well. We spend a few hours talking, laughing and taking some pictures.

For this session we were working with a huge Octobox as a main light and alternating between a Beautydish and small Softbox as a fill light. For the background we used a mixture of different modifiers. We used some of the pics to do some heavy post processing using photoshop for some promotional work.

I really love the light that the Octobox produces but using it in the studio greatly reduces light flexibility due to it’s size. You really need to balance the need for flexibility against light here.

The rest of the gear used in this one:

  • Canon 5D’s with 24-105mm F4 and 70-200mm F2.8
  • Elinchrom D-Lite 4 Strobes
  • Walimex CY-250K Strobe
  • Walimex Ring Light
  • Elinchrom Skyport Triggers
  • Some reflectors

Raphael & Family

July 19th, 2010 by infocus

Raphael’s parents actually contacted us to take some photographs for Raphael’s christening but we decided to make more of a family shoot out of it.  We met on a hot Saturday morning in the Vineyards in Luxembourg and started with some standard family portraits before focussing on Raphael himself.

The gear used in these photographs is:

- Canon 5D, 24-105F4, 70-200F2.8 and 17-40F4
- Speedlites 580EX and 430Ex
- Elinchrom D-Lite 4’s equipped with softboxes and beautydishes
- Explorer XT
- Some Lastolite Trigrips
- A very efficient HLS
The challenge here was the rapidly rising sun. The flashes managed to keep it down but we were nearly running at full power.
Enjoy the photographs here or in the sideshow below.

Elijah

July 18th, 2010 by infocus

Well this was a somewhat special photo session as it was the first one in our new studio. It was a simple portrait session which should have resulted in one picture …….. Elijah was very photogenic and a treat to photograph.

The whole shot was kept technically simple with two 5D’s equipped with a 24-105F4 and 70-200F2.8, a big Elinchrom Octobox and a Walimex Strobe for the background.

Make sure you check out the rest of the pics in the slideshow below.

Family Portrait Session

June 10th, 2010 by infocus

Two weeks ago we headed out for this family portrait session on multiple locations. We had two hours to make it work, so as usually planning was key here. The sun was quite bright already when we started which gave us thinking to do  for some of the spots we had chosen for several portraits.  The sun really became an issue after we moved to the second location in the field, the yellows got really bright here and a haze made the sky quite dull, but the set was planned with a strobe in mind which solved both issues. A little piece of advice here : if you ever have to walk into a field like that, …. leave the lens cap on.

For the last location we prepared only one set and left the kids running around and photographed them playing and interacting with eachother. We felt that this was a more natural approach and it actually worked quite well.

The gear we used :

  • 2 Canon 5D’s
  • 24-105mm F4
  • 70-200mm F2.8
  • 17-40mm F4
  • Elinchrom D-Lite4
  • Canon Speedlite
  • Lastolite Tri-Grip Reflektors
  • Explorer battery pack

You can see some behind the scenes shots here.

Megan’s communion

April 9th, 2010 by infocus

We had a wonderful session with Megan for her communion a few weeks ago. We combined the classical session in a church with a more fun portrait session in the studio on that day. It was a long shoot but we had a blast.

Lane

May 24th, 2009 by infocus

This was a new idea that we came up with a few month ago. Follow a couple from before the pregnancy to the birth and a few weeks/month later. It was a lot of work, but the result is definitely worth it. That being said the whole shoots were a blast :)

Another Wedding

February 12th, 2009 by infocus

We did this on in October last year. Fun shoot, technically a bit more difficult because of the lightning, but it made things challenging. The rest of the pics here.

We were able to follow Christine through the last month of her pregnancy and take some really nice shots of Mia. All the pictures were taken within two months. The rest of the pictures can be found here.
